PACKAGING DATA DEVELOPMENT AND SPECIAL PACKAGING INSTRUCTION
(SPI) REQUIREMENTS
Packaging data will be developed and compiled for the end item in
accordance with MIL-PRF-49506 and MIL-STD-2073-1D.
Information for all parts in the Parts Provisioning List having a source code
of “P” will be included in the database. Items source coded “PR” or “PZ” will
not be included.
Data will be assigned to each “P” coded part (with exclusion above noted) in
accordance with the specific requirements outlined in the Statement of Work
(SOW). Certain items as detailed in the CDRL requirements will be excluded from
the database.
Packaging information will be output using the capabilities of the
Provisioning database management software application.
Special Packaging Instructions or SPI’s will be created and submitted for
each reparable, hazardous, fragile, sensitive, and/or critical item that cannot
be packaged or defined as a “select” item as described in MIL-STD- 2073-1D.
A selective group item is one that is defined in paragraph 3.18 of MIL-STD-
2073-1D as “Items that cannot appropriately utilize predetermined packaging
developed for common group items (see 3.3) yet do not require a drawing, sketch,
illustration or separate narrative type instruction to specify packaging
details.”
